The major pivot points in my life’s journey have been driven by trauma.

I am never surprised when I meet a therapist who changed course to help others because of personal trauma.

I am surprised when a coach says the same thing – it happens, but in my experience, it is less common.

Some mind-bending traumatic event in a person’s life has made them step back and reconsider their purpose.

For many I have spoken to, the trauma felt like an existential crisis, they used the words “I cannot continue…”.

And then added the words, “…as I am”.

They became a new person, with a new purpose, and commonly that purpose involves helping other people.
