📅 Thought for today:

‘My expectations were reduced to zero when I was 21. Everything since then has been a bonus.’

Perspective.

A recent client session was mostly concerned with expectations not being met, and a massive sense of disappointment and failure.

We humans do this to ourselves voluntarily. Set expectations of ourselves, others, the world at large, and then when those expectations don’t come to pass, just ourselves or others, often as “failures”, and our mood descends.

Learning to lower or remove these expectations, and accepting was is, we can feel better about life.

It sounds so simple, doesn’t it?

Yet we know it really does take focused effort over time to develop a different habit.

In my opinion, it is worth it.

On a different note, I am heading to Birmingham today to meet a friend. We haven’t had a face-to-face meet up since September of last year.

I am very much looking forward to seeing him, not so much to the train journey (and I love travelling by train).

I am keeping my expectations in check.

Happy Monday!
