πŸ“… Thought for today:

β€˜The events that I have attended to mark my Diamond Jubilee have been a humbling experience. It has touched me deeply to see so many thousands of families, neighbours and friends celebrating together in such a happy atmosphere.’

How can my thoughts today be on anything other than The Queen’s Jubilee?

Seventy years as monarch, giving service with grace and dignity is something to respect and admire, whether you are a royalist or a roundhead.

I have no plans for attending a party or event, and I’m happy with that, yet it does not mean I am ignoring the jubilee or in any way “anti” the events.

We are not the nation we were when The Queen succeeded her father in 1952. The world has changed and so have we. Sometimes we hang on to our past when we need to look forward and decide what future we would wish to see.

Despite all the reasons to be doubtful, I chose to be hopeful, and my memories of Her Majesty including getting up close and personal (without formally meeting) as a child, waving a little flag like there was no tomorrow.

I enjoy a good fly past too!
