📅 Thought for today:
‘I worry though, about what might happen to our minds if most of the stories we hear are about greed, war, and atrocity.’
— Philippa Perry

I saw Philippa Perry on television last night, and she said something that struck a chord. In fact, I will tell you now, as this was going to be the quote for today’s blog post:
“Email is just a to-do list written by other people.”
I loved this – I don’t get very many emails, despite having a half-dozen email addresses, because I have superb spam filters, I unsubscribe from anything that I do not have a strong interest in, and I apply my own filter after all that.
Philippa Perry is a writer and psychotherapist. One of her books is Couch Tales, a graphic story of psychotherapy. I really took to her as she explored swanky holiday dest9inations in Scotland with Sandi Toksvig.
Then I discovered this quote and I thought to myself, “Yes, she is right, I am already hearing anxiety about war in my room.” In the room being therapist speak for the conversations we have with our clients, although all mine are online, I have not gone back to face-to-face work.
Imagine the impact on the mental health of children subjected to the terrible sights we are seeing in Ukraine – whether they experience them first-hand or second. What will their futures hold for them?
