📅 Thought for today:
‘I am grateful for what I am and have. My thanksgiving is perpetual.’

When I was 13 I nearly drowned whilst on a scouting holiday in Wales.
Fascinated by the sea on the rocks near Criccieth, a friend and I went to watch the swells in strong winds. No adults for a few miles, we were exploring on our own. I don’t think anyone knew where we were.
I fell into a cauldron of water, moving vertically some ten to fifteen feet with each wave rushing into a “bowl” in the rocks. I dropped into the water as the wave receded and I was immediately a long way below my friend facing rocks with no handholds. The water was very cold even though it was July.
My friend, who was a year or two older than me, managed to grab my hand at the exact moment the next wave lifted me level with him.
It was an incredibly close thing.
There was no way I could get out on my own, and I would either hit the rocks or drown.
I don’t remember the friend’s name. I was grateful then, I am grateful now.
Many countries have a Thanksgiving Holiday, in the USA it is today. I am grateful for being able to tell you this story at all.
