It was one of those mornings today. Misty, almost foggy in places, and Autumn hung in the air.
The dense, misty air suppressed sound and the silence was noticeable.
I was actually thinking of a quote about listening today, yet this seems to fit the weather and the mood.
Once again I found myself recently in conversation with someone who does not listen.
Someone who waits for you to stop so they can continue saying whatever they are tensed up ready to say.
And contradicts everything you say.
I realised long ago that these are not my people.
Many years ago I would have been cowed by them. Several years ago I would have stood up to them. Now I just move away from them – I simply don’t need them in my life.
I spend my days listening – to what is said and what is not said. I like listening to people.
Just not the people that talk at you and think they are in a competition.
