📅 Thought for today:
‘I never teach my pupils; I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn.’
— Albert Einstein

I have been running workshops and training for about twenty years.
I’ve had coaches and mentors along the way and studied the process of training and teaching to try and get better.
I have long said that you cannot teach things like entrepreneurship, you can only enable learning.
I am also a big believer in shared experiences helping this process of learning.
Einstein’s quote sums this up sweetly.
So it may surprise you that I have started teacher training – that is training towards a teaching qualification. For those in the know, this is the modern equivalent of PTLLS.
Naturally, in these now-normal online times, I am learning online, at my own pace.
I expect to complete the first stage in the next two weeks or so, and Level 5 (which would enable me to be a classroom teacher if I wanted to) in about two months.
I’m already enjoying it – the learning is not yet challenging, but the process and assessment are, and I am relishing that.
Why do this now? Because a qualification opens up options for me, will help me get better at teaching and training, and is interesting.
My virtual classmates are (for the most part) less than half my age. Their beginner’s mind approach is refreshing.
Stretch & learn. Stretch & learn.
