My Dad always wanted me to be as fascinated by ham radio as he was.
As a young man he had talked to people all around the world.
He didn’t have a radio set when he married and I suspect I was a good excuse to get one.
Except… I didn’t co-operate.
I was determined not to like the things I was told to like, and so never experienced his joy about ham radio.
As with the father, so with the son, and it is only as adults that my sons have been able to at least pretend to like the things I like and give me joy.
My father died in 1996 but he hasn’t really gone anywhere, he’s still with me.
Not that jumper though!
