My thoughts today are dominated by the UK death toll from Covid-19.
As we pass a grim milestone, I think that every single death is a grim milestone.
Round numbers fascinate us and so we mark them as significant.
I find myself wondering if this somehow diminishes the respect we pay to those that grieve.
The one-hundred thousand UK deaths are each a personal tragedy for a family.
Often compounded by the limits placed on contact and funeral sizes, preventing some form of final parting.
No doubt there will be a retrospective inquiry about the UK response.
For now though my thoughts are with all the people whose loss makes up the grim statistic.
Including those I know personally.
