Thought for today:

‘The truly free man is he who knows how to decline a dinner invitation without giving an excuse.’

It took me a long time to learn to say “no” effectively.

Not rudely, abruptly or with malintent.

Just understanding that saying “no” was sometimes in my own interests.

Saying “no” to all the offers to work for free for people who are paid.

Saying “no” to doing things that are no longer part of my purpose, just for money.

Saying “no” to those that seek to exploit.

And sometimes saying “no” to perfectly good and well-meant offers.

I’ve learned to trust my feelings more.

I’ve also learned that there is an art to saying “no”.
