📅 Thought for today:
Â
‘There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences.’
Â

Â
There was a time when I read Rolling Stone magazine every month. It was a time before the internet when reading something printed was the way you got your news, insight, interviews, and opinions.
Â
P J O’Rourke wrote for Rolling Stone at that time – in fact for 20 years.
Â
I loved his satire and commentary, so I followed him wherever he was available – National Public Radio, Atlantic Monthly, Rolling Stone and on TV.
Â
Times change, so do tastes, and he was never as well known in the UK. I still have a couple of his books from back in the late 80s and early 90s – I am wondering today what they read like?
Â
Probably would not pass the taste test of today.
Â
Obviously, I am thinking of him today because he died (of lung cancer) yesterday.
Â
Remembering him, and his cross-section with my life, living in a foreign country in the late 80s, I remember also that he was “the voice of British Airways” on their TV commercials for many years when they told everyone they were the World’s favourite airline.
