📅 Thought for today:
‘A loving heart is the truest wisdom.’

On Valentine’s day, an entire industry makes hay and we profess our love to the one(s) that matter the most to us.
I am, as always, wondering about love in many contexts, and in particular, in the workplace.
Not illicit, or passionate love. The compassionate love of one colleague for another, the empathic love of a manager for an employee.
I once had business cards with a quote on them, which included the word “love”.
I remember very clearly several people laughing, or being embarrassed because I was talking about business. I was told that I would put people off.
Good.
If that’s all it takes, then so be it.
The problem is in the language, not the act. Love once had many words where now it makes do with one.
Caring for employees is a manager’s duty, it is even enshrined in law. If calling that love makes some managers uncomfortable, perhaps they can suggest a word they feel happy using?
