📅 Thought for today:

‘I love California, I practically grew up in Phoenix.’

No letters please, I know what’s wrong with this quote!

I first visited California in November 1985, staying for two nights in a hotel in Sunnyvale.

I fell in love with the air, the sun, the vibe, and the people.

Northern California felt like home.

The hotel was just across the highway from Moffatt Field and a steady stream of P-3 Orion anti-submarine propellor aircraft came and went.

Now what was once an airfield is home to Amazon and many other tech companies – none of which existed in 1985.

I didn’t take Scott Mackenzie’s advice, I didn’t wear flowers in my hair.

What made me think of this, on a cold and blustery morning, with snow showers and a biting wind?

“All the leaves are brown, and the sky is grey.”

The Mamas and Papas were singing to me as I walked across the park.
