📅 Thought for today:
‘Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.’
— Ralph Waldo Emerson

Have you ever heard people say, “You can’t do that”, and wonder why they say it?
Is their opinion based on facts, or just “what they heard”?
I have been drawn in recent months to consider something that even some of my friends say is “wrong”.
Coaches are taught that they cannot and must not stray into counselling (therapy, psychotherapy).
Therapists (counsellors) are taught that they should be coaching.
Both are taught that they should not be directive.
The theory and the practice are not the same.
I believe coaches and counsellors are more alike than they realise.
I also believe that they can learn and grow by understanding each other better.
This is why I am working with some other coaches and counsellors to bring the two together.
Not merge, meld or some other way diminish the practices.
Simply to explore, learn and grow – we are all in service of our clients.
