Thought for today:
‘Fine art is that in which the hand, the head, and the heart of man go together.’
— John Ruskin

I often wonder about what makes something feel like the right thing to do.
Such reflection brought me to this quotation from John Ruskin, the Victorian polymath and art critic.
I believe that you can substitute “fine art” with “purpose”.
And replace “man” with “any person” – we’re not in the reign of Queen Victoria now.
And re-arrange the words to get:
“A person’s purpose is that activity in which the hand, the head and the heart go together.”
I would interpret this to mean that by combining rational thought, emotional drive and ability (of the hand or otherwise) we can find true meaning and purpose within ourselves.
This suddenly turned deep for a Wednesday morning, so I’ll stop.
(PS: The photo is of my swatches for my brush markers, I have an unbelievable number of ways of creating colour on blank paper in front of me!)
