πŸ“… Thought for today:

β€˜The whole of Yorkshire has been known throughout the world for various reasons, not least because of Wuthering Heights, but it was James Herriot I think that put Yorkshire on the international map and we are part of that, which is a great honour really.’

Today I have Yorkshire on my mind.

I am not from Yorkshire though I am from the North, yet I have a strong affinity for all Pennine country, whichever side it is on.

To see the Pennines is enough for me to feel “home”, and to walk on them and feel the fresh wind on my face is really where I want to be.

Having travelled the world, and lived all over, I think it is time I went back to my roots, the North is calling, and I feel it keenly.

That sense of place and spiritual connection we all have to the place of our birth can be a strong motivator to action.

James Herriot was of course Alf Wight, and he lived in Thirsk, a lovely market town in North Yorkshire, where there are many lovely market towns.
