📅 Thought for today:
‘With everything that has happened to you, you can either feel sorry for yourself or treat what has happened as a gift. Everything is either an opportunity to grow or an obstacle to keep you from growing. You get to choose.’
— Wayne Dyer

Wayne Dyer wrote one of the best selling books of all time, selling over 100 million copies.
Self-help is a huge category in books and publishing.
It is perennial – the same problems addressed in similar ways over and over again.
Each brings a new insight, or a new model, and they become popular and then fade as some new book takes over.
I find it fascinating, not least because the books often contain insight and good ideas.
It’s as if a book alone can’t make the change happen that people so clearly want.
Or the change isn’t actually possible.
Or that reading a self-help book is comforting in itself and solving “the problem” is less important when you believe there is a solution.
It is a bandwagon I have jumped on because I have something to say in this space.
I do not have the ambition to beat Wayne Dyer though because I am not writing a self-help book for personal enrichment. With everything that has happened to me through the years, I have chosen to take it as an opportunity to grow.
