๐Ÿ“… Thought for today:

โ€˜Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Lower the bar. Actually spending ten minutes clearing off one shelf is better than fantasizing about spending a weekend cleaning out the basement.โ€™

As I was writing my morning pages this morning, I was also thinking about the things I want to get done this week.

I have the house mostly to myself, I have a fair old list of things that I could do.

And I have a much shorter list of things that I should do.

If I review that shorter list, there is an even shorter list of things that I must do.

When I look at these lists, I see things I’d like to do, yet haven’t started.

I recognise the blocker there. It is the “I won’t be able to complete that task in the time available” or “I won’t be able to do it justice” inner blocking dialogue.

So I’ve banished that voice for this weekend. I will do some things so they are good enough. I will start things I know I cannot finish but will be so much closer to finishing (next weekend!).

Finally, I will do want I must do, some of what I should do, and quite a lot of what I want to do just because.

Removing that internal tyranny helps me look at my weekend differently, enthusiastically and hopefully.

There will be no perfection in my work this weekend!
