Thought for today:
‘When you’re different, sometimes you don’t see the millions of people who accept you for what you are. All you notice is the person who doesn’t.’

For many people, growing up is about conformity, acceptance and not standing out.
There will always have been someone who simply didn’t care about these things.
I can remember several from my early years – I still remember them today.
Daring to be different in my teenage years was a very scary thing indeed.
Through the lens of hindsight, we can see things differently.
My teenage years featured some bullying because I had long hair.
I dressed differently but had a small circle of friends who were similar, if not the same.
We stuck together and developed the confidence to be ourselves.
I realise now that there were a great many people who accepted me for who I was.
My parents, family, teachers, classmates, other friends and even our neighbours.
As it was, so it is.
