Thought for today:
‘If you spend your time hoping someone will suffer the consequences for what they did to your heart, then you’re allowing them to hurt you a second time in your mind.’

You can imagine I’m sure the pain anguish a therapist hears in his or her room.
These days that room is on Zoom or some other remote technology.
Yet we find a way to make a connection and be present, to start the internal process that helps a client find hope.
A few weeks ago (before Christmas) I had someone who had been deeply hurt by the actions of another.
In recent weeks this client’s thoughts have turned away from vengeance to self-care and the future.
It is undoubtedly a difficult thing when we are deeply impacted.
I will say, “hating someone is like drinking poison and expecting them to drop dead.”
We suffer whilst they continue on oblivious.
