Today a trip to the Cotswolds to look at houses.

English countryside at its finest, and English weather at its most capricious.

There is something about bright sunshine on wet trees and fields, stone walls and rolling hills.

Especially when there is a dark sky behind of a receding storm.

Whilst we travelled to see specifics, we also took in what we saw around us, and enjoyed the marvel that is England in the late spring/early summer, before everything gets a little parched and baked.

I’ve always liked this quote as I have also enjoyed good travel writing.

Two books that spring to mind are In Patagonia by Bruce Chatwin and The Great Railway Bazaar by Paul Theroux.

I must dig them out and read them again (in my spare time).
