📅 Thought for today:

‘Just when you feel you have no time to relax, know that this is the moment you most need to make time to relax.’

I often hear the words, “I don’t have time to…”

It is another way of saying, “I have higher priorities.”

In the case of self-care – looking after your needs – how can you have a higher priority?

My work is intense at times, and from the middle of today until the close of Friday I have a busier schedule than I usually would. I have already written “chill” into my diary at key moments, and I am looking forward to unwinding and recharging at the weekend.

You won’t be surprised to know that this often involves time alone. My work involves lots of conversations with other people, whether one-on-one sessions, group training, or supervision.

By the weekend I run out of words. I need that space to find my equilibrium. Increasingly this is by creative pursuits – photography, drawing, illustration, calligraphy, pottery – I am not short of creative hobbies (thanks to Julia Cameron).

I’m curious here – how do you look after yourself when you think you are too busy or don’t have the time?
