📅 Thought for today:

It has been a week of exploring self-awareness. Lots of Johari Window conversations and exercises.
I am at the point in my workshops where we explore self-awareness and self-regulation.
You will have seen some posts from me to that effect in recent days.
Daniel Goleman says that self-awareness is the foundation on which emotional intelligence is built, and I agree with him. Even if I don’t believe emotional intelligence is the be-all and end-all of leadership.
It can be painful discovering your own blind spots, and therein lies the rub.
We have a tendency to avoid or suppress discomfort.
The more we do it the less happy we become, because discomfort is both a normal part of living and a route to change.
Paying attention to the things that cause us discomfort helps us grow.
This is a work in progress for me personally, and for some of my clients, they don’t yet believe they have any work to do.
