I cannot remember a time when I have trusted a Government of this country less than I do now.

And I have seen some shockers, particularly in the 1970s.

Of course, trust is based on what we know, or think we know, about a person’s integrity based on their behaviour.

And let’s face it, we are all pretty good at deceiving ourselves.

In Jill Bolte Taylor’s book, “My Stroke of Insight”, she talks about the lying left brain, manipulating us by telling us stories about possible futures.

We are all very capable of lying to ourselves; and probably do so more often than we’ll admit (another untruth).

“The Truth” is a fickle and difficult thing to pin down.

Yet it feels like we have descended to a new low, where we have accepted a serial liar and cheat, with poor judgement, to pick a cabinet of ministers based solely on their support for his ego. Some of them have demonstrated promising signs of competency, but not many.

All else is not lost yet, we can descend even further, or we can choose not to.
