I don’t often include long quotes. Often, the short ones you read online are pieces of a longer quote, which in turn is often part of a book or speech.
Deciding where to cut and yet keep the sense of the “speaker” can be a challenge, one that some people ignore and change the sense.
I wanted a Taylor Swift quote after seeing that Damon Albarn has apologised online for suggesting that Swift does not write her own songs. Taylor Swift was quick to rebut this allegation, as was her producer, and Albarn had to eat his words.
I admire Taylor Swift as an artist (and loved Folklore), yet this quote makes me respect & admire her even more for being an inspiring human.
For the record, women who are killing it inspire me.
