Thought for today:
‘People who will not sustain trees will soon live in a world that will not sustain people.’

I used to spend some of my summers with relatives – both my parents worked.
This meant spending a week with my great Aunts on a farm in Lancashire.
Or in my Grandmother’s cottage in Derbyshire.
After learning the locale from her, she would leave me to roam some of the time.
And other times she walked the fields to neighbours houses to look in on them.
She would take them herbal remedies, but mostly (I suspect) gave them an ear and some company.
Both had a therapeutic value.
From here I learned to love the natural environment around me – and especially the trees.
Sentinels of the fields, slow-growing, and magnificent.
So it offensive to see vast swathes of woodland and forest felled in order to feed ourselves.
How long can this go on?
