Thought for today:
‘Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.’
— Steve Jobs

This was not the first choice today, my first choice was along the lines of the only good thing about working for an asshole is that it gives you the chance to reflect on how you don’t want to act.
I much prefer to decide what I want to do, rather than thinking about what I don’t want to do.
So when a client described the actions of their manager this week (self-centred, command & control, insecure) we talk about how we could turn this to the client’s advantage.
The truth is, a great many managers are untrained.
And they model themselves on their managers – who are equally untrained.
There are some shockingly bad managers out there.
And some wonderfully good ones too.
So if you don’t love what you do, think about what you would love to be doing.
And who you want to work for – maybe for yourself?
