Thought for today:

‘Life is not a matter of holding good cards, but sometimes playing a poor hand well.’

Making the most of what we have sounds like something my grandmother used to say.

And it probably is.

Waiting to get the perfect hand, or delaying because we don’t, is another aspect of two common issues.

Perfectionism and procrastination, both coming under the heading of anxiety in my training books.

There are those that are able to just use what they have – much like me in the kitchen.

Rustling up something that is satisfying and tasty from basic, sometimes tired, ingredients.

The secret to this is in the condiments, spices, herbs and seasonings.

In life we have these too – and our approach or attitude is one of them.

So if you think your “life hand” is currently less than ideal, can you find a way to make the most of it?

And work out a plan to get some better cards?

I agree. One simple thought I sometimes use to re-direct my mindset: ‘I am not a victim of the world I see.’
