Thought for today:
‘I don’t think Christmas is necessarily about things. It’s about being good to one another.’
— Carrie Fisher

I often hear complaints that “Christmas has become so commercial”.
Gifts are given, and received, with barely a thought.
Chosen from wishlists, sent by proxy, received with a knowing nod saying “that was on my list”.
For me, Christmas is about the people closest to me, my family.
It is about the way most people become more compassionate, just for a few days.
Less judgemental, more considerate.
And so I chose this quote by Carrie Fisher, who died four years ago this month.
We may not be able to meet up in person this Christmas, yet we can be good to one another.
It is time to think of others, to say something nice, to express concern.
Why not pick one person you’ve wondered about and send them a message.
You might be the bringer of hope they were looking for.
Continuing on from yesterday…
Day 4. Because of all you have experienced this year, can you think of one thing you are glad you stopped doing or did less of in 2020?
If you can and feel so minded, share here.
